超低温球阀主要用于输出液态低温介质如乙烯、丙烯、液氮、液氧、液氢、液化天然气、液化石油产品等，不但易燃易爆，而且在升温时要气化，气化时，体积可膨胀数百倍。而且这些介质渗透力强，易泄漏，加工制造技术要求高。
　超低温阀门设计的选用材料非常重要，材质不合格，会造成壳体及密封面的外漏或内漏；零部件的综合机械性能、强度和钢度满足不了使用要求会导致低温介质泄漏，甚至破裂引起爆炸。因此，在开发、设计、研制低温阀门的过程中，对阀体、填料、密封垫片、螺栓、螺母等材料是首要关键问题。

超低温长颈法兰（螺纹）球阀适用于工作温度 -196~+80℃(密封圈为增强聚四氟乙烯)的各种管路上，用于截断或接通管路中的介质，选用不同的材质,可分别适用于水、蒸汽、油品、硝酸、醋酸、氧化性介质、尿素等多种介质广泛应用于日用化工、制药、油脂、电力、供水,食品、啤酒、电子等轻工业或其他重工业，并可在细软颗粒介质输送和真空管路上使用，是现代工业理想的阀门之一。
