黄铜减压阀（OR reducing valve）是采用控制阀体内的启闭件的开度来调节介质的流量，将介质的压力降低，同时借助阀后压力的作用调节启闭件的开度，使阀后压力保持在一定范围内，在进口压力不断变化的情况下，保持出口压力在设定的范围内，保护其后的生活生产器具。

英国Regus雷格斯进口水用黄铜减压阀的定义：

1.为了操作和维护方便，该阀一般直立安装在水平管道上。

2.黄铜减压阀安装必须严格按照阀体上的箭头方向保持和流体流动方向一致。如果水质不清洁含有一些杂质，必须在黄铜减压阀的上游进水口安装过滤器（我们建议过滤精度不低于0.5mm）。

3.为了防止阀后压力超压，应在离阀出口不少于4M处安装一个黄铜减压阀。

4.黄铜减压阀在管道中起到一定的止回作用，为了防止水锤的危害，也可安装小的膨胀水箱，防止损坏管道和阀门，过滤器必须安装在黄铜减压阀的进水管前，而膨胀水箱必须安装在黄铜减压阀出水管后！

5.如果需要将黄铜减压阀安装在热水系统时，您必须在黄铜减压阀和膨胀水箱之间安装止回阀。这样既可以让膨胀水箱吸收由于热膨胀而增加的水的体积，又可以防止热水回流或压力波动对黄铜减压阀的影响，确保黄铜减压阀长期正常工作。
